Statistics for Data Analysis

At present, statistical methods and confidence intervals are available here for univariate (single variable) description and inference. Use the Menu button to select the method you wish to use.

You have several options for describing data consisting of a single variable

Summary statistics - like the mean and median, frequency distribution tables, boxplots, bar charts, histograms, frequency polygons and pie charts. Some of these are available here at present. With each statistical procedure there are notes about the method.

Which statistic you choose should depend on the level of measurement used in your data. The various kinds of scale are outlined below. There are example data sets available here and the facility to upload your own data set.

For each method there are example data sets available, you can type or paste your own data, or load data from a file on your computer.
